BOJONEGORO - MI: Mobil Cepu Ltd. (MCL), a subsidiary of Exxon Mobil Corporation successfully tested to produce 20 thousand barrels of oil per day."Performance is better generated by the wells and production facilities operated since early August and that they support the Indonesian government's goal to prioritize energy production," said Michael K Nelson, president of MCL in Bojonegoro, East Java, on Thursday (10/12).So far, MCL production facilities located in Banyu Urip field in Cepu Block processing up to 12 thousand barrels of oil per day. This figure has increased as new facilities are developed by the buyer, the Tri Universal Vehicle and Pertamina through Petrochina to accept delivery of oil through the pipeline.
If demand increases one day, MCL has proved capable of producing oil beyond the design capacity, which reached 20 thousand barrels. "The success of the start of the use of this facility shows the high commitment of all parties involved in developing oil resources and gas in Block Cepu safely and efficiently. Meanwhile, President Director of Pertamina EP Cepu Haposan Napitupulu said initial production of MCL is a good start for the development of the Cepu Block. "We look forward to working more closely with MCL and BP Oil and Gas for the development challenges full production capacity, which is 165 thousand barrels of oil per day," said Haposan.
Exxon Mobil and Pertamina each have a 45 percent stake in Block Cepu, while 10 percent owned by four local companies. By investing more than U.S. $ 19 billion since 1968, a subsidiary of Exxon Mobil and its predecessors have been operating in Indonesia more than 100 years.
